About our information
Providing reliable information about blood pressure is central to what we do as a charity. We have a wide range of information available on our website, leaflets and regular e-newsletters and magazines, aiming to help you take steps to control your blood pressure and look after your health.
We believe that the right information, at the right time, can make a real difference. Here you can read how we make sure our information is reliable, how we produce it and who it is for.
How do we make sure our information is reliable?
Our information is written by our specialist staff who have many years' experience writing about health. We work with doctors and health professionals with a specialist interest in blood pressure to make sure it’s up to date and accurate.
We write and update our resources in line with reliable sources including medical guidelines, research papers and trusted websites.
Our information is read and reviewed by people with high blood pressure to make sure it’s relevant and answers their questions.
The Information Standard
We are proud that we were one of the first UK charities to qualify for the Information Standard, the kitemark of quality health information.
To achieve the Information Standard we demonstrated that our information is clear, accessible, accurate, appropriately researched, authoritative, up-to-date and designed to meet the needs of those with high blood pressure.
We were awarded the Information Standard certificate as a mark of quality and reassurance for the public for our series of five blood pressure booklets introducing high blood pressure and its management.
Who is our information for?
We write our information for people who have high blood pressure and want to learn more about it, and for anyone who would like to prevent it. Our resources reflect clinical practice in the UK and treatments may be different in other countries.
We try to make sure that our information is appropriate for as many people as possible but recognise that some people may need information that is tailored to their needs. We have resources available in over 30 languages.
